RANOGEM ER 500  is a medication used primarily to treat chronic angina, a condition characterized by chest pain or discomfort caused by reduced blood flow to the heart muscle. Unlike traditional angina medications that primarily target heart rate and blood pressure, ranolazine works through a different mechanism.
RANOGEM ER 500  is believed to work by inhibiting the late sodium current in cardiac cells. By doing so, it reduces the influx of sodium ions into the cells during the repolarization phase of the cardiac action potential. This helps to decrease intracellular calcium accumulation and improve oxygen utilization in the heart muscle, ultimately reducing the frequency and severity of angina episodes.
