METALONIX is a medication that belongs to the class of drugs called thiazide-like diuretics. METALONIX is primarily used to treat fluid retention (edema) and high blood pressure (hypertension). METALONIX works by increasing the amount of urine produced by the kidneys, thereby helping to reduce fluid accumulation in the body.
METALONIX is commonly prescribed to treat conditions such as edema associated with congestive heart failure, liver disease, or kidney disorders. METALONIX is also used to manage hypertension (high blood pressure) when other medications alone are not sufficient.
METALONIX acts by inhibiting the reabsorption of sodium and chloride ions in the kidneys. This promotes increased excretion of water and electrolytes, leading to reduced fluid volume in the body.
METALONIX is available in strengths of 2.5 and 5 mg.
