HYCHLORZIDE is a medication commonly used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and fluid retention (edema). HYCHLORZIDE belongs to a class of drugs called thiazide diuretics, which work by increasing urine production and reducing the amount of water and salt in the body.
HYCHLORZIDE acts on the kidneys, specifically the distal convoluted tubules, to inhibit the reabsorption of sodium and chloride ions. This promotes increased excretion of water, sodium, and other electrolytes in the urine, leading to a reduction in blood volume and a decrease in blood pressure.
HYCHLORZIDE is available in strengths of 12.5 and 25mg.
