Alpha Ketoanalogue Sachet
KETORENAL ALPHA
Alpha-ketoanalogues (AKA) are a group of compounds that are structurally similar to amino acids. They include alpha-ketoglutarate, alpha-ketobutyrate, alpha-ketoisocaproate, and alpha-ketovalerate. These compounds are essential components in the synthesis of amino acids in the body.
AKA supplements are used in the management of chronic kidney disease (CKD), particularly in patients undergoing dialysis. When kidneys are not functioning properly, there can be a buildup of waste products in the body, including nitrogenous waste products derived from protein metabolism. AKA supplements are given to help reduce the production of nitrogenous waste products while still providing essential amino acid precursors.
