Divalproex ER (250mg)
DIOWELPREX stands for Divalproex Extended Release. It is a medication that contains the active ingredient divalproex sodium, which is a compound that is converted in the body to valproic acid. DIOWELPREX is primarily used as a mood stabilizer and anticonvulsant.
DIOWELPREX is commonly prescribed for the treatment of epilepsy, including complex partial seizures and simple or complex absence seizures. DIOWELPREX is also used in the management of manic episodes associated with bipolar disorder and as a preventive treatment for migraine headaches.
DIOWELPREX works by increasing the levels of a neurotransmitter called gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain. GABA has inhibitory effects on the nervous system, and by increasing its concentration, DIOWELPREX helps to reduce abnormal electrical activity in the brain.
DIOWELPREX is available in strengths of 250, 500 and 750mg.
