1. Saxagliptin (5mg):

   • Saxagliptin belongs to a class of medications called dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors.
   • It works by inhibiting the enzyme DPP-4, which in turn increases the levels of incretin hormones such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP).
   • GLP-1 and GIP help regulate blood sugar levels by stimulating insulin release from the pancreas and reducing the production of glucose by the liver.
   • Saxagliptin is typically taken orally, usually once daily, with or without food.

2. Metformin Hydrochloride Extended-Release (ER) (500mg):

   • Metformin is a first-line medication for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
   • It belongs to the biguanide class of medications and works primarily by decreasing the production of glucose by the liver and improving insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues.
