Moxonidine (0.2 mg)
MOXIDIP is a medication used to treat high blood pressure, also known as hypertension. It belongs to a class of drugs called selective alpha-2 adrenergic agonists.
MOXIDIP works by stimulating alpha-2 adrenergic receptors in the brain, which leads to a decrease in sympathetic nerve activity. The sympathetic nervous system is responsible for regulating various bodily functions, including blood pressure. By reducing sympathetic nerve activity, MOXIDIP helps relax and dilate blood vessels, resulting in a decrease in peripheral vascular resistance and a subsequent reduction in blood pressure.
In addition to its blood pressure-lowering effects, MOXIDIP also have some other beneficial effects. It has been suggested that MOXIDIP can improve insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism, making it potentially useful in the management of conditions such as metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes.
MOXIDIP is available in strengths of 0.2 & 0.3 mg.
