GLIBIMIDE is an oral medication used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. GLIBIMIDE belongs to a class of drugs known as sulfonylureas, which work by stimulating the release of insulin from the pancreas, thereby reducing blood sugar levels.
GLIBIMIDE is typically taken once a day with or without food, as directed by a healthcare provider. The dosage of GLIBIMIDE medication will depend on individual factors such as age, weight, and other medical conditions.
Some common side effects of GLIBIMIDE include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, and low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia). Rare but serious side effects include allergic reactions, liver problems, and a decrease in the number of blood cells.
GLIBIMIDE should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes, severe liver or kidney disease, or a history of an allergic reaction to sulfonylureas. GLIBIMIDE should also be used with caution in elderly patients and those with certain medical conditions such as adrenal or pituitary gland problems. It is important to speak with a healthcare provider before taking GLIBIMIDE to determine if it is the right medication for you.
