Alfuzosin SR (10mg), Dutasteride (0.5mg)

ALFUGEM D

  1. Alfuzosin SR (Extended-Release) 10mg:

    • Mechanism of Action: Alfuzosin belongs to a class of medications known as alpha-blockers. It works by relaxing the smooth muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, making it easier to urinate. By reducing pressure on the urethra, Alfuzosin helps alleviate symptoms such as difficulty urinating, weak stream, and frequent or urgent urination associated with BPH.
    • Dosage: The usual dosage of Alfuzosin SR is 10mg once daily, taken with food. The extended-release formulation allows for once-daily dosing.
    • Side Effects: Common side effects of Alfuzosin may include dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, fatigue, and nasal congestion.
  2. Dutasteride (0.5mg):

    • Mechanism of Action: Dutasteride is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor. It works by blocking the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that contributes to prostate growth. By reducing DHT levels, dutasteride helps shrink the prostate gland and improve urinary symptoms associated with BPH.
    • Dosage: The usual dosage of Dutasteride is 0.5mg once daily.
    • Side Effects: Common side effects of Dutasteride may include decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, ejaculation disorders, breast tenderness or enlargement, and dizziness.
