BVM GOLD is a relatively new medication and was first approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2016 for the adjunctive treatment of partial-onset seizures in patients with epilepsy who are 16 years of age and older.
BVM GOLD is believed to work by selectively binding to a protein in the brain called synaptic vesicle protein 2A (SV2A). SV2A is involved in the release of neurotransmitters, and by binding to this protein, BVM GOLD may modulate the release of neurotransmitters, thereby reducing the occurrence of seizures.
BVM GOLD is available in strengths of 25, 50, 75 and 100mg.
