Sertinac is used to treat depression, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, social anxiety disorder (social phobia), and a severe form of premenstrual syndrome (premenstrual dysphoric disorder). Sertinac is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant. Sertinac works by increasing the levels of serotonin, a chemical messenger in the brain. Sertinac improves mood and physical symptoms of depression and also relieves symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, and anxiety.
