Irbesartan HCl (hydrochloride)
IRBISTRUM is a medication that belongs to a class of drugs known as angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs). It is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and to reduce the risk of stroke in patients who have hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy.
IRBISTRUM works by blocking the action of a hormone called angiotensin II, which causes blood vessels to narrow and increases blood pressure. By blocking the action of angiotensin II, IRBISTRUM helps to relax blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily and reducing blood pressure.
The usual recommended dose of IRBISTRUM is 150 to 300 mg once daily, taken with or without food. Your healthcare provider will determine the appropriate dose for you based on your medical history, current health status, and other medications you may be taking.
As with any medication, IRBISTRUM may cause side effects, which can include dizziness, headache, fatigue, and stomach upset. If you experience any side effects or have concerns about taking IRBISTRUM , it is important to speak with your healthcare provider.
