Diltiazem hydrochloride sustained-release capsules [90 mg]
DILTITAB CD 90
Diltiazem hydrochloride sustained-release capsules are a medication used to treat various cardiovascular conditions, primarily high blood pressure (hypertension) and certain types of chest pain known as angina. Diltiazem belongs to a class of drugs called calcium channel blockers.
Diltiazem works by blocking the entry of calcium into smooth muscle cells of the heart and blood vessels. This inhibition of calcium influx leads to relaxation and widening of the blood vessels, reducing peripheral vascular resistance and lowering blood pressure. It also decreases the heart's workload by slowing down the heart rate and reducing the force of contraction.
Diltiazem is primarily used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina (chest pain) caused by coronary artery disease. It can be prescribed alone or in combination with other antihypertensive medications. Diltiazem may also be used off-label to treat certain heart rhythm disorders, such as atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter.
STERIS PHARMA Generic medicines are typically much cheaper than brand-name drugs. Generic medicines have the same active ingredients, strength, dosage form, and route of administration as their brand-name counterparts.
