TMOZOLMIDE is an oral chemotherapy medication used in the treatment of certain types of cancer, particularly brain tumors. TMOZOLMIDE is classified as an alkylating agent and works by damaging the DNA of cancer cells, preventing their growth and replication.
TMOZOLMIDE is primarily used for the treatment of glioblastoma multiforme, a type of aggressive brain tumor. TMOZOLMIDE may also be prescribed for other types of brain tumors, including anaplastic astrocytoma and metastatic melanoma.
TMOZOLMIDE is converted into its active form within the body. TMOZOLMIDE works by adding a methyl group to DNA molecules, which leads to the formation of DNA cross-links. These cross-links disrupt the DNA structure and prevent cancer cells from dividing and multiplying.
TMOZOLMIDE is available in strengths of 100 and 250mg.
