Tacrolimus 0.25mg
TACRENOLIME, also known by its brand name Prograf, is a medication that belongs to a class of drugs called calcineurin inhibitors. TACRENOLIME is primarily used as an immunosuppressant, which means it suppresses the activity of the immune system. TACRENOLIME is commonly prescribed to prevent organ rejection in patients who have received a kidney, liver, heart, or lung transplant.
When a person undergoes an organ transplant, their immune system recognizes the transplanted organ as foreign and may attempt to attack and reject it. TACRENOLIME works by inhibiting the activation of T-lymphocytes, which are a type of white blood cell involved in immune responses. By suppressing the immune system, TACRENOLIME helps prevent organ rejection and allows the transplanted organ to function properly.
TACRENOLIME is available in strengths of 0.25, 0.5, 1 and 2mg.
