Cefuroxime Axetil (500mg) & Potassium clavulanate (125mg) tab

  • Cefuroxime Axetil: Cefuroxime is a cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by interfering with the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, which ultimately leads to the death of the bacteria causing the infection. Cefuroxime is effective against a wide range of bacteria that cause respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, urinary tract infections, and other bacterial infections.

  • Potassium Clavulanate: Potassium clavulanate is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. It works by preventing certain bacteria from inactivating cephalosporin antibiotics like cefuroxime. Beta-lactamase is an enzyme produced by some bacteria that can break down cephalosporin antibiotics, rendering them ineffective. Potassium clavulanate helps extend the spectrum of activity of cefuroxime by protecting it from degradation by beta-lactamase enzymes.
