Pioglitazone (7.5 mg)
PIOSTERIS is an oral medication used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. It works by improving the body's sensitivity to insulin, a hormone that regulates blood sugar levels. Pioglitazone belongs to a class of drugs called thiazolidinediones, or glitazones.
PIOSTERIS is taken orally in the form of a tablet, usually once a day, with or without food. It is often used in combination with other diabetes medications, such as metformin or sulfonylureas, to help control blood sugar levels.
Like all medications, PIOSTERIS can have side effects. The most common side effects include weight gain, edema (swelling), and increased risk of fractures. PIOSTERIS may also increase the risk of heart failure, especially in people with a history of heart disease or heart failure.
Therefore, it is important to use PIOSTERIS only as prescribed and to discuss any potential risks and benefits with your healthcare provider.
PIOSTERIS is available in strengths of 7.5, 15 & 30 mg.
