Description:
PANTOSTRUM IT is a combination capsule from Steris Healthcare that tackles two common problems at the same time: too much acid and slow movement of food out of the stomach.
- Pantoprazole (40 mg): a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It switches off the acid pumps in the stomach lining, so less acid is produced. This relieves heartburn and lets an irritated oesophagus or stomach lining heal.
- Itopride (150 mg): a prokinetic agent. It helps the stomach and upper gut contract in a coordinated way and empty at a normal pace. This eases bloating, fullness, nausea and the feeling that food is "sitting" in the stomach.
Many people with acidity also have sluggish stomach emptying. When food stays in the stomach too long, pressure and acid can push back up into the oesophagus, so reflux and bloating feed each other. Treating both together is the idea behind this combination.

How Does Pantoprazole Work?
The stomach lining contains proton pumps (H⁺/K⁺-ATPase), the final step in acid production. Pantoprazole binds to these pumps and switches them off. Acid production stays low until new pumps are made, which is why one dose a day can control acid for around 24 hours. Pantoprazole is destroyed by acid, so it is supplied in a protective enteric coating that dissolves only in the intestine.
How Does Itopride Work?
Itopride acts in two complementary ways:
- It blocks dopamine D2 receptors, which normally put the brakes on gut movement.
- It inhibits acetylcholinesterase, the enzyme that breaks down acetylcholine, the chemical that drives gut contractions.
The result is better stomach emptying and stronger, coordinated movement of the upper gut. Itopride does not cross into the brain to any significant degree, and it has little effect on the heart's rhythm compared with older prokinetics such as cisapride, which is one reason doctors favour it.
Why Is PANTOSTRUM IT Important?
Acidity, bloating and indigestion are among the most common reasons people seek medical advice in India. Spicy and oily food, irregular meal timing, big late-night dinners, skipping meals, tea or coffee on an empty stomach, stress, smoking, alcohol and frequent painkiller use all add to the problem.
Typical complaints include:
- Burning in the chest (heartburn) and a sour taste in the mouth
- Regurgitation of food or acid
- A heavy, full stomach and early fullness after a few bites
- Bloating and belching
- Nausea and sometimes vomiting
- Upper abdominal discomfort
- Disturbed sleep from night-time reflux
Using an acid reducer alone can leave the bloating, nausea and fullness only partly relieved, because those symptoms are driven by slow emptying. A prokinetic alone does not control acid. Combining both can address the whole cluster of symptoms.
Persistent symptoms also matter medically. Long-standing reflux can inflame and scar the oesophagus, and in some people lead to Barrett's oesophagus. Ongoing indigestion can also be the first sign of an ulcer, H. pylori infection, gallbladder disease or, rarely, a serious condition. That is why symptoms that continue should always be assessed by a doctor.
Why this product matters in practice:
- Dual action: acid control and improved gut movement together.
- One capsule a day: simple, easy to follow, and supports adherence.
- Relieves acidity and its companions: heartburn plus bloating, nausea and heaviness.
- Heals as well as soothes: the PPI supports healing of an inflamed lining.
- Convenient strip of 10: suited to short courses and easy dispensing.
For gastroenterologists, physicians, pharmacists and distributors, a pantoprazole and itopride capsule is a popular, high-demand combination in the gastro portfolio.
Key Benefits
- Reduces stomach acid: pantoprazole provides strong, long-lasting acid suppression.
- Relieves heartburn and acid regurgitation.
- Improves stomach emptying: itopride helps food move on instead of lingering.
- Eases bloating, fullness and a heavy stomach after meals.
- Reduces nausea linked to slow gastric emptying.
- Supports healing of an inflamed oesophagus and stomach lining.
- Addresses both acid and motility problems in GERD with dyspeptic symptoms.
- Brain-sparing, heart-friendly prokinetic: itopride has minimal central nervous system effects and is not known for the heart-rhythm problems of older prokinetics.
- Once-daily dosing: one capsule a day before breakfast.
- Quality-assured manufacturing: made by Steris Healthcare in a WHO-GMP and ISO certified facility.
- Practical strip of 10: convenient for a short, trackable course.
