Silodosin (4mg), Dutasteride (0.5mg)
Silodosin is an alpha-blocker that is primarily prescribed for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), also known as an enlarged prostate. BPH is a common condition that affects older men and can cause symptoms such as frequent urination, difficulty starting and maintaining urination, weak urine flow, and a feeling of incomplete bladder emptying. Silodosin works by relaxing the muscles in the prostate and the neck of the bladder, which helps to relieve these urinary symptoms. It is important to note that silodosin does not shrink the prostate gland.
Dutasteride belongs to a class of medications called 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors. It is also used for the treatment of BPH, but it works differently from alpha-blockers like silodosin. Dutasteride inhibits the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase, which converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is a hormone that contributes to the growth of the prostate gland. By reducing DHT levels, dutasteride helps to shrink the prostate gland over time, leading to an improvement in urinary symptoms associated with BPH. Dutasteride is sometimes also used in the treatment of male pattern baldness.
SILODOSIA 4D is available in strengths of 4 and 8mg.
